2016: A Reading Year in Review

Hey guys!
I hope you all had a wonderful 2016, although it’s been a tough year for I’d say, 98% of the population, we got through it, and heres to a much better, and more positive 2017.

2016 was a tough year for me in regards to undertaking my final year of schooling, which meant endless nights of study, and stress. So, if you compare my 2015 reading year (https://passthefeels.wordpress.com/2016/01/04/2015-a-reading-year-in-review/) to this one, you’ll notice a significant decrease in read books, but hey, I’m lucky I even managed this many.

So, enjoy this little yearly wrap up from me! Please let me know how your year went!

So, as you can see, I had an extremely long break in the middle of the year from reading to due school and exams…

Buttt I will say the other differences between this year and last year, is that I read a lot more large books this year, completed my goal of finishing the Harry Potter series, and read more books that I enjoyed rather than simply reading because I felt pressured too.

So it’s not all bad!

That’s all,

Kate 🙂

Life after exams: Book Edition

Hey lovely people!

Today, whilst I’m sick, and therefore taking a little break from studying (although, not a break from stressing about the fact that I’m not studying… #procrastination right?).

I thought I’d write a post about the books I plan on reading after exams (9th November). Seeing as my whole life has been revolved around school and exams this year (senior year, yep, it’s great), I could not be more excited to get back to reading!

So, without further ranting, here are the top 10 books I plan on reading when I can actually read again (in a not-really-ordered order)…

  1. 27276318._SY180_.jpg

It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover. I’ve been dyinnnng to read this! I mean, a new Colleen Hoover book?! How could I not be excited to read it! Cannot wait to see what crazy plot twist, or other insane things you’d never see coming that her newest release has!

  2. 16131489-_sy180_

The Last Star by Rick Yancey. I cannot wait to see how this trilogy ends. It’s so mysterious, it shall be interesting! I loved the first instalment, and although the second wasn’t great (in my opinion), I do have high hopes that this will not disappoint!

  3. 22844208-_sx120_

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowling (yes, for the first time), I’m both so ready, and so anxious to finish this series. All the feels are gonna hit me, that much, I do know.

  4. 17670709

Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas. I read Throne of Glass so long ago now, and didn’t completely fall in love, but it can only get better from there right? I’m so determine to get in on the hype of this series (and catch up…oops)

  5. 15719929

City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare, as well as City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare. Because it’s about time I finished this series that everyone has probably already read 1000 times over by now. These books take a while for me to get into, but I love them once I do get into them. City of Fallen Angels has been my favourite instalment yet, so I’m excited to see where these 2 go, and how it all wraps up.

  6. 17927395

A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas. Ahhh! I’m so, so excited to read this one. ACOTAR was so intriguing and crazy. Really pumped to see where this one takes the direction of the story (and to actually be caught up on a Sarah J. Maas series. That would be nice)

  7. 23846013

The Rose Society by Marie Lu. I was not the biggest fan of book one by any means, but I feel like now that I’m older, I’ll enjoy this story a lot more, if that even makes sense… haha. I received the third installment in this series for review, so I can’t wait to devour this one, and finish off the trilogy with a bang!

  8. 24974965

The Amateurs by Sara Shepard. My favourite mystery/thriller author has a new book? You know I’m gonna read it, and you know I’m gonna love it! Can’t wait to get my hands on this one!

  9. 29056083

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child by J.K. Rowling, John Tiffany and Jack Thorne. Which I can’t actually read until I’ve finished Deathly Hallows, but I’m so ready to see what goes on after the events of the final HP book! Also, I’m excited to read the script type of writing!

  10. 28686840

Holding Up The Universe by Jennifer Niven. I’ve started this one multiple times since I got it, but alas, school has interrupted every time. I can’t wait to actually be able to read this book properly, and finish it!

So, there you go. Those are the top 10 books I plan on reading after exams, and to close out the year with! There are obviously a lot more, but, these are at the top of my to-read list!

Until next time,

Kate 🙂

That was my reading year in review. I’m pretty proud of how many books I managed to read, however next year I aim to read more of the books that I actually want to read and enjoy them, rather than simply reading them due to the pressure of feeling as if I ‘need’ to read alot of books.

Also, as you can see, my reading really heavily slowed after June, which I guess is both due to the demand of school and multiple reading slumps throughout the months of July-December. Reading slightly lost its enjoyment towards the second half of the year as I could never find something I truly wanted to read at the time. Hence why I’m going to try reading for the sole purpose of enjoyment in 2016.

Yeah that’s it,

Kate 🙂

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire: QUOTES

Hey everyone!

Today, I thought I’d share with you some of my favourite quotes from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire! There was just so many, I had to make an honorary post for them all! Hope you enjoy, and they inspire you or trigger nostalgia as much as they inspired me!

QUOTES:

  1. “If you want to know what a man’s like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals.”

2. “It matters not what someone is born, but what they grow to be.”

3. “Remember, if the time should come when you have to make a choice between what is right and what is easy, remember what happened to a boy who was good, and kind, and brave, because he strayed across the path of Lord Voldemort. Remember Cedric Diggory.”

4. “Numbing the pain for a while will make it worse when you finally feel it.”

5. “Understanding is the first step to acceptance, and only with acceptance can there be recovery.”

6. “Time will not slow down when something unpleasant lies ahead.”

7. “It is a strange thing, but when you are dreading something, and would give anything to slow down time, it has a disobliging habit of speeding up.”

9. “I have gone temporarily deaf and haven’t any idea what you said, Harry.”
